From the anthology Deadly Treats (Nodin Press, 2011).

When you live in the northern Minnesota woods, miles from civilization, you expect peace and quiet come winter. So imagine your surprise (and fear) when you hear sound outside in the middle of a snowy night. And then you find a baby in a basket. This sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale, but the story takes an odd turn from there.
