#49: Ghost Train, by Icy Sedgwick

Synopsis: A train goes through a tunnel; but does the tunnel not also go through it?

A scraping sound, like nails on glass, scratches behind her. She turns to look over her shoulder, and sees empty space where there should be a tunnel wall. She presses her face to the window and peers into the gloom.

Eerily delicious, and short. Like Angela Carter’s ghost was bedeviling Caitlin R. Kiernan and leaving her small dead rodents on the front stoop. That kind of delicious.

“Ghost Train” is available online for free. Easily one of my top three for the year.
