Poetic Justice by Carolyn Mullen

From the anthology The Rich and the Dead (Grand Central Publishing, 2011)

This is a historical mystery set in the 1890s, I believe. (The guessing is due to the story referring only to the decade, not the century.) In this story, a factory worker was killed and his widow goes to work for the factory owner with murder in her heart. There was a bit too much description for my taste, but that perhaps is part of the convention for a historical, to truly set the scene.
