“The Fubar Suit” by Stephen Baxter

Story 161/366

This is a story about a journey into outer and inner space. There are times it’s surreal. There are times I’m not quite sure what’s happening. I love the matter-of-fact touches that “sell” the reality of this science fiction storyMy hab module was just a box, with a reconditioned Russian-design closed-loop life support, and an exercise bicycle. It’s the deadpan “exercise bicycle” that makes the sentence.

This story originally appeared in Interzone 123 in 1997 and is available on the “Baxterium” here.

See you tomorrow!
