No Place for You My Love, Eudora Welty
by Patti Abbott
A married man and woman meet at a luncheon and on impulse go for a drive, driving south of New Orleans. The details of their trip, the insects, the water are everything here because we never get too far inside their heads. There is much talk about whether it is possible to go any further-in regard to the road–and perhaps to their interlude too. It ends with them dancing and perhaps more before they drive home. Strange and wonderful story.
