“Continental Drift” by Joseph Devon

Story 132/366

Every once in a while when I’m reading about a writer, I find myself wishing I could invite him or her over for dinner. (And in the case of one dashing mystery writer, I’d be willing to throw in breakfast as well, but I digress.) Reading Devon’s “about me” section on his site was so much fun I almost forgot to go back and read the story, which is part of his “26 Stories in 52 Weeks” project. He is very precise in his use of language—crediting his years of High School Latin for that—and this story of a brief not-quite-encounter on the beach at Cannes packs a lot of impact into a small space. You can read it here.

See you tomorrow!
