The Brighton Beach Mermaid by Lina Zeldovich

88/366
A Moscow prosecutor on the run from the Russian mob escapes to New York and ends up trapped, playing a singing, dancing mermaid at a seedy NY club, where more than lap dances can be purchased. She thinks she’s found a way out of her indentured servitude when an undercover federal prosecutor enlists her in a scheme to get the goods on one of the club’s customers. But is the prosecutor on the level?
This was an interesting story, though I didn’t buy the idea of a prosecutor going undercover. That’s what the cops and FBI are for.
