From the anthology Murder New York Style: Fresh Slices (L & L Dreamspell 2011)

Suburban Sarah envisions a fun week in Greenwich Village, living in her son’s apartment while he’s on Spring Break. That’s before her son’s ex-girlfriend shows up. Sarah gives the girl a place to sleep for the night and some money the next morning, and — later that day — she gives her assistance to the police, after the ex-girlfriend is found murdered in a nearby park. It helps that Sarah is pretty observant and not afraid to do the right thing.
