A Day at the Zoo Flash Challenge by assorted authors
The wonderful Patti Abbott put out a flash challenge last month called “A Day at the Zoo” and today all the writers who accepted the challenge posted their stories. The wonderful thing about this is the fact that you’ve got a free anthology of short stories to read just by clicking on the links. I’m about half way through and will probably finish the rest tomorrow, but here are a few of my favorites so far.
“Friday Night at Coldsmith Farms” by John Weagley. If you love rednecks this story of a man playing tic-tac-toe with a chicken is for you. I laughed all the way through.
“Packing” by FT Bradley (Fleur) is a wonderful piece about a woman who goes to the zoo to meet her brother. She recalls their past together as a family of bank robbers and discovers that her brother has become a father. The ending will surprise you.
“The Price of Admission” by Albert Tucher is a lovely piece about a failed marriage that breaks your heart at the end.
