Pox by Patti Abbott

Patti is one of my favorite online writers so I’m always a bit biased when it comes to her stories.  But Pox is a beautiful story that did nothing I expected, which is what makes Patti one of the best writers around.  This is a Western story about a woman whose husband moves the family from the city to the country.  She hates her new life, the land, the hard work, and the fact that she’s bore her husband five children and only has two left.  You can feel her despair, how much she hates her husband, and how she’s lost all hope.  And yet, the story is about courage and hope and yes, love.  You can read it here  http://firesontheplain.com/2012/03/09/pox-by-patti-abbott
