Doyle is a peripatetic Aussie writer/techie guy who is fascinated by color and symbolism (see the interview that accompanied this story at Lightspeed, where it was published earlier this year. This is a really layered story that builds a world, and populates it and makes it real with very few words. Doyle is working on a novel in this world, a magical, feudal Japan, and I can’t wait to read it. “Ghost River Red” is, as you might imagine, a ghost story. You can read it on their archives here.
