Leigh Brackett was a screenwriter as well as a science fiction novelist/short story writer, and her work ranged from The Big Sleep to Empire Strikes Back. “The Demons of Darkside” originally appeared in Startling Stories in January 1941 and was also printed in her short fiction collection Mercury’s Light.
