The title of this story by Bram Stoker Award-winning horror writer Bentley Little comes from the John Keats poem “Ode to a Nightingale” and was inspired by memories of the author’s great-grandmother’s chicken ranch. In the story a man and his wife visit his grandfather on the farm where he spent many a childhood hour. The old man warns him away from a certain building on a hill—It is a haunted place and strange with secrets—but some people just can’t let secrets alone. The story appears in a collection of short stories called The Collection.
