One of Us is a brilliant story that is told in the first person about an illegal alien in the UK who falls in with criminals when they give her a chance to earn the paperwork that would let her stay in the country legally.
The voice is strong and steady with keen observations that illustrate the rock and the hard place she finds herself between. We feel every moment of her struggle.
One of my favorites that excellent collection of his.
